Paper Piecing Cake!

Hi Everyone!  It’s Wini from LooneyBugDesigns with today’s Paper Piecing project (boy that is a mouthful – LOL) over on Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central

Before I show you my project I want to remind you to be sure and enter your project on THIS POST (just click the link) for your chance to win this challenge – be sure to scroll to the bottom of the post and click the Add Your Link Button.

This is such a fun challenge – you can simply do some paper piecing on part of your project or do an entire paper pieced project.  I can’t wait to see what you create!!

My project features the in stock Bildmalarna – 143 Wedding Cake stamp.  It is such a pretty stamp.  I am using this as a birthday cake card for a teenaged girl.

SSCC 08 paper peicing

The paper I used today is all Basic Grey.  I love to use these collections because i know that everything will coordinate! It is also great to have the sicker elements to add quick details (the pink strip) to a project.  If you have never tried a Basic Grey Collection Pack, I really encourage you to pick one up and give it a try.

To create the image I started by stamping the cake 3 times with my Memento Rick Cocoa ink, once on the green paper, once on the yellow paper and finally once on the pink paper.  I then cut out the different layers with an craft knife and layered them together.

I then decorated my cake with Polar White Flower Soft and some I-Rock Crystal Gems.  I mounted my cake onto some Neenah Paper that I cut and embossed using a Spellbinders Label 8 die.  I sprayed the die with Glimmer Mist allowing a few blobs to drip onto the paper to give it a more distressed look to fit in with the BG Patterned Paper.  I used my I-rock to add a few Color Fusion Embellishments to the die cut and attached it to my card base.  A few more Crystal Gems to the card base and I was finished.

I would love to know what you think of my card – and to see what great Paper Piecing Projects you make!
